Polestar is making a play for Tesla owners by offering up to $20,000 off a Polestar 3 lease. If you currently own or lease a Tesla, you’re eligible for this limited-time deal, running from February 21 to February 28.
How the $20K Discount Works
The offer combines two incentives:
- $15,000 lease incentive, already available to all Polestar 3 lessees.
- An extra $5,000 “Conquest Bonus” for Tesla owners switching over.
With these discounts, the Polestar 3 lease starts at $599 per month after the $15,000 incentive. Tesla owners could pay even less, depending on the model they choose.
Why Target Tesla Owners?
Polestar sees an opportunity as some Tesla owners grow frustrated with Elon Musk. His political involvement and recent controversies have led to celebrity sell-offs, public protests, and a growing shift away from Tesla.
Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller acknowledged this in a Bloomberg interview, stating that Musk’s actions are pushing some customers toward alternative brands. This “Conquest Bonus” is Polestar’s way of capitalizing on that shift.
Is the Polestar 3 a Worthy Upgrade?
The Polestar 3 is a luxury electric SUV featuring Swedish design, advanced tech, and a Google-powered infotainment system. However, with a base price of $80,000, it’s more expensive than a Tesla Model Y, even after the $20K discount.
For some, the premium experience and a chance to move away from Tesla’s ecosystem might be worth it. Others may hesitate due to the higher price tag and the fact that Tesla still leads in charging infrastructure.
