Audi is ending production of its Q8 E-Tron on February 28, 2025, marking the closure of a chapter in its electric vehicle history. This model, a refreshed version of the original E-Tron, played a pivotal role in Audi’s journey into electrification. First launched for the 2024 model year, the Q8 E-Tron offered enhanced range, improved handling, and solid safety ratings.
The vehicle debuted with a maximum EPA-estimated range of 300 miles in its Sportback Ultra Package. However, that range was set to decrease to 272 miles as the Ultra Package was being discontinued for 2025.
Factory Shutdown and Limited Availability
The Q8 E-Tron was built at Audi’s Brussels, Belgium, plant, which is also set to shut down by the end of February. Audi had attempted to sell the factory but was unable to find a buyer. With no plans to shift production to another plant, the Q8 E-Tron will officially retire.
While Audi announced pricing for a potential 2025 model at $76,095, it remains unclear if any of these units will reach the U.S. market. As of now, U.S. inventory consists exclusively of 2024 models, and no further allocations have been confirmed.
The Next Chapter for Audi EVs
Although the Q8 E-Tron is departing, Audi’s EV lineup remains robust. The automaker continues to offer models like the Q4 E-Tron, Q6 E-Tron, A6 E-Tron, and the sporty E-Tron GT. Unlike the Q8 E-Tron, which shares its MLB platform with gas-powered models, these newer EVs are built on dedicated platforms tailored for electric performance.
For example, the Q4 E-Tron utilizes Volkswagen’s MEB platform, the E-Tron GT shares the J1 platform with Porsche’s Taycan, and the Q6 E-Tron and A6 E-Tron are based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which also underpins the upcoming Porsche Macan EV.

The Q8 E-Tron’s exit may pave the way for a successor built on Audi’s cutting-edge EV platforms. As Audi transitions its lineup, these new models promise better range, efficiency, and innovation.
