Honda’s 0 Series EV Prototypes Set to Shine at CES 2025

Honda’s 0 Series EV Prototypes Set to Shine at CES 2025

Honda is gearing up for a major EV showcase at CES 2025 in Las Vegas on January 7, unveiling its much-anticipated 0 Series prototypes. These next-gen models are a pivotal step in Honda’s electrification journey and provide a glimpse into production models slated for 2026.

A Closer Look at the Prototypes

Two 0 Series prototypes will debut, evolving from the concepts Honda teased at CES 2024. The teaser image hints at two distinct designs:

  • One retains the sleek, futuristic Honda Saloon concept style.
  • The other moves away from the Space-Hub’s van-like form, adopting a modern SUV-inspired shape.

The Saloon-based EV will lead the charge, marking Honda’s first scalable EV platform. Unlike earlier models like the Prologue and Acura ZDX, which rely on General Motors’ underpinnings, the 0 Series represents Honda’s standalone efforts in creating a versatile EV architecture.

Made in America: Ohio’s Role

Honda is heavily investing in its Ohio facilities, which are being revamped to manufacture EVs alongside hybrids. The automaker’s new battery plant will support flexible production, ensuring the 0 Series EVs can roll off the line at scale.

While Honda has cautioned these EVs won’t directly replace popular models like the Accord or CR-V, they’re expected to cater to a growing market without becoming niche products.

Expanding the 0 Series Platform

The 0 Series architecture is designed for versatility, extending beyond Honda’s core brand. It will underpin:

  • An Acura model, inspired by the sleek Performance EV concept.
  • Future EVs from Afeela, Honda’s joint venture with Sony.

Both Acura and Afeela EVs will also be manufactured in Ohio, solidifying the state’s importance in Honda’s electrification plans.

Cutting-Edge Battery Tech

Honda is promising lightweight, energy-dense batteries with game-changing capabilities. Future iterations of the 0 Series platform will feature batteries that:

  • Charge from 15% to 80% in 10–15 minutes.
  • Retain 90% of capacity and range after 10 years of use.

Earlier test drives of the platform highlighted its aerodynamic design and sharp handling, proving Honda’s commitment to performance and efficiency.

The Road Ahead

Honda’s 0 Series prototypes are more than just concepts—they’re the foundation of its electric future. Will these EVs redefine Honda’s place in the EV market? CES 2025 will give us the first real glimpse. Stay tuned!
