Starting February 2025, Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle drivers in the U.S. will gain access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network. With over 20,000 charging stations known for their reliability and fast charging speeds, this move marks a significant convenience boost for non-Tesla EV owners. Canadian Mercedes-Benz EV drivers will also benefit from this partnership, but their access will roll out later in 2025. While Mercedes-Benz continues building its own charging network in North America, this collaboration highlights the growing trend of shared charging infrastructure to enhance EV adoption.
Adapter Details & Availability
Mercedes-Benz drivers will need a DC Fast Charging Adapter to use Tesla Superchargers. The adapter will be available at authorized dealerships for $185. Customers will be notified when it’s ready for purchase and should contact their dealer to order one.
Navigation Integration & Seamless Charging
Tesla Superchargers will integrate with the Mercedes me Charge network, enabling Plug and Charge functionality. Drivers will enjoy automatic payment processing through their Mercedes me Charge account after each session. Additionally, these Superchargers will be visible in the MBUX navigation system and the Mercedes-Benz app, provided users activate the Mercedes me Charge service and confirm possession of the adapter. Integration also includes automatic battery pre-conditioning for optimal charging efficiency and route planning with Navigation with Electric Intelligence.
Compatibility & Future Updates
While most Mercedes EVs will have access to Tesla’s Superchargers, details about the compatibility of the electric Mercedes eSprinter van will be shared closer to the February 2025 launch.
Growing Mercedes EV Market
Since launching its EQ series in 2022, Mercedes-Benz has sold approximately 85,000 battery-electric cars and SUVs in the U.S. alone. With this new access to Tesla’s reliable Supercharger network, Mercedes-Benz is positioning its EVs as even more viable options for long-distance travel.
By collaborating with Tesla’s well-established infrastructure, Mercedes-Benz aims to offer a seamless, user-friendly charging experience. Could this kind of cross-brand integration be the key to accelerating EV adoption across North America?
