California is getting a new wave of electric work trucks, and they’re bringing serious power. Voltu Motor is deploying 10 Class 3 electric trucks in Riverside as part of a pilot program aimed at reducing emissions and cutting fleet costs.
Voltu’s Zero-Emission Trucks Join Riverside’s Green Fleet
Voltu Motor, a company focused on electrifying heavy-duty vehicles, is rolling out 10 high-performance Voltu3 electric trucks in Riverside, CA. This initiative is backed by $600,000 in grant funding from the South Coast AQMD and the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Committee.
These zero-emission work trucks are designed to match—or even outperform—their gas-powered counterparts while eliminating tailpipe emissions.
Innovative Charging—No Infrastructure Needed
One of Voltu’s biggest breakthroughs is its onboard fast-charging technology. Unlike traditional EVs that need expensive charging stations, the Voltu3 can fast-charge up to 200 kW using standard AC three-phase power. This drastically reduces infrastructure costs while improving operational efficiency.
With a 166 kWh battery pack, 620 horsepower, and dual-motor four-wheel drive, the Voltu3 delivers up to 350 miles of range, making it a practical choice for fleet operators.
Pushing Fleets Toward a Cleaner Future
According to Rafael Guzman, Riverside’s Assistant City Manager, the city aims for 100% carbon neutrality by 2040. Deploying these zero-emission trucks is a step toward that goal.
