BYD Sets a New Standard for EV Charging
Chinese EV giant BYD is shaking up the industry once again. Its new Han L electric sedan promises something many thought impossible — 248 miles of range in just 5 minutes of charging. That’s faster than grabbing a coffee.
And the surprise doesn’t stop there. The Han L’s starting price is even lower than expected: just $28,544 in China. That’s cheaper than a Tesla Model 3, despite offering technology years ahead.
Ultra-Fast Charging Made Simple
Most EVs max out at 350-400 kW charging speeds. BYD’s solution? Dual charging ports. This allows the Han L (and its SUV sibling, the Tang L) to use two 500 kW chargers at the same time.
Even if stations can’t offer 1 MW of power yet, BYD is ready for the future. Drivers will no longer need long charging stops, even on long-distance trips.
Impressive Specs at an Unbeatable Price
The BYD Han L comes with an 83.2 kWh Blade battery and delivers up to 436 miles of range (using China’s CLTC rating). Real-world figures may be lower, but with 5-minute charging, range anxiety almost disappears.
The sedan also features a massive 1,086 horsepower, BYD’s “God’s Eye” driver assist (like Tesla Autopilot), and a hybrid version with a small gas engine for extra flexibility.
The top trim costs around $37,935 — still thousands less than the average U.S. car.
BYD’s SUV Joins the Race
BYD isn’t stopping with sedans. The Tang L SUV shares the same futuristic platform. Prices for the SUV start at $31,268, offering the same lightning-fast charging tech in a family-friendly package.
What This Means for EV Future
BYD has proved that fast-charging, long-range EVs don’t have to be expensive. It’s a clear message to the global car industry: innovation doesn’t need to cost a fortune.
While Western automakers slowly roll out updates, BYD is already delivering the future — today.
