Bold Entry in the EV Arena
Xpeng has pulled the wraps off its brand-new G7 electric SUV, aiming straight at the Tesla Model Y and Xiaomi’s YU7. Starting at just ¥195,800 (about C$37,000), this mid-size crossover packs serious value into a sharp price tag. The launch made waves fast—Xpeng logged over 10,000 orders within nine minutes, each backed by a refundable deposit.
Three Trims, Impressive Range
Slotting between Xpeng’s smaller G6 and larger G9, the G7 comes in three versions:
- G7 Max 602: 68.5 kWh battery, 602 km CLTC range
- G7 Max 702: 80.8 kWh battery, 702 km CLTC range
- G7 Ultra: 80.8 kWh battery, 702 km CLTC range
All trims run a 218 kW (292 hp) Rear-Wheel Drive motor. Drivers get a respectable 0–100 km/h time of just 6.5 seconds. Xpeng keeps costs low by skipping dual-motor AWD—at least for now.

Fast Charging and High Efficiency
The G7 rides on an advanced 800V high-voltage platform using silicon carbide tech. Thanks to its ultra-fast 5C charging, the SUV can regain 436 km of range in 10 minutes and jump from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes. Energy use stays lean, ranging from 10.8 to 12.9 kWh per 100 km—making it one of the most efficient in its class.
Pushing Vehicle Intelligence
Inside, Xpeng flexes its AI muscles. The flagship Ultra trim packs three in-house Turing AI chips delivering 2,250 TOPS—outperforming what Tesla or Xiaomi currently offer. Even the base models get dual Nvidia Orin-X chips with 508 TOPS. Xpeng plans to unlock L3 self-driving for the Ultra via an OTA update in December 2025.
Premium Tech-Filled Cabin
Beyond range and power, the G7 stands out for its cabin tech. Up front, an 87-inch AR head-up display, built with Huawei, replaces the usual cluster. There’s also a massive 15.6-inch screen, dual 50W wireless chargers, a high-end sound system, and heated massage seats. Passengers in the back get a fold-out table, dedicated touchscreen, and a chilled wireless charger.
Xpeng’s Big Year Continues
The G7 crowns a huge first half for Xpeng. June alone saw 34,611 deliveries—a 224% jump from last year. From January to June, Xpeng moved nearly 200,000 cars worldwide. This launch signals that Xpeng is serious about expanding its reach—and rattling the competition.
