Charging Just Got a Whole Lot Simpler
Kia is making charging easier and smarter for its EV drivers. Starting with the 2025 EV6 and 2026 EV9, owners will soon benefit from a new feature called Plug & Charge. This upgrade allows drivers to skip the hassle of using apps, swiping cards, or touching screens every time they charge.
Instead, just plug in, charge, and go. The car handles everything else in the background — authentication, billing, and connection.
How Plug & Charge Works
Plug & Charge relies on the Kia Charge Pass system. Once a driver adds a valid payment method to their account, the vehicle automatically identifies itself to the charger when plugged in. This eliminates the usual delay and confusion often experienced at public charging stations.
It’s a small feature that solves a big headache, especially during road trips or bad weather. Charging becomes automatic, secure, and — most importantly — fast.
Supercharger-Ready with NACS
These models are also Kia’s first to support the Tesla-style NACS connector. That means no adapter is needed when using Tesla Superchargers or other chargers with NACS plugs. This addition marks a huge step toward charging compatibility and long-distance flexibility.
Combined with Plug & Charge, this setup delivers one of the most seamless charging experiences available in any EV today.
Where It Works
Plug & Charge is currently supported by networks like Tesla’s Supercharger and Electrify America. However, many fast chargers in the U.S. still use CCS1 connectors, which means Kia owners may still need adapters for now.
According to Kia, the 2025 EV6 will get the feature by the end of September, with the EV9 following by year-end.
A Smarter, Simpler Future
Kia continues to close the gap between convenience and electrification. Plug & Charge brings them one step closer to a world where charging an EV is just as easy as filling up a gas tank — but cleaner and smarter.
