FSD V14.2 Is Here — And It’s Smarter Than Ever
Tesla has begun rolling out Full Self-Driving version 14.2 to an initial group of vehicles. Early sightings came from Model Y owners in California, all equipped with Tesla’s latest AI4 hardware. And yes — the first social media videos are likely just hours away.
This update isn’t just routine. It’s packed with meaningful upgrades that aim to improve safety, flexibility, and how the car interacts with the real world.
Vision System Gets a Major Boost
The biggest change? A revamped neural network vision encoder. Tesla says it’s now using higher-resolution features, helping FSD better recognize:
- Emergency vehicles
- Roadside obstacles
- Human gestures
In real terms, your Tesla should now more accurately react to ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars, pulling over or yielding where appropriate.
Arrival Options: You Choose Where to Park
One standout new feature: Arrival Options. Drivers can now select where they want FSD to park upon arrival:
- Street
- Driveway
- Parking garage
- Lot
- Curbside
This brings much-needed flexibility, especially in tight urban areas or unfamiliar locations.
Smarter Navigation, Fewer Surprises
Tesla has now fully integrated routing into the vision-based neural network. This means FSD can better handle:
- Blocked roads
- Sudden detours
- Static and dynamic gates
- Road debris like tires or tree branches
Additionally, new Speed Profiles let drivers further customize their Tesla’s driving style — a welcome nod to personal comfort and safety.
Handling, Fault Recovery, and Safety Alerts
Version 14.2 improves the vehicle’s ability to manage unprotected turns, lane changes, and vehicle cut-ins. It also adds better behavior near school buses, increasing safety in family neighborhoods.
There’s also a clever new alert system: If interior windshield residue affects the front camera, the car will notify you to clean it.
Coming Soon: Smoother Driving, Better Parking
Tesla promises future updates will focus on ride smoothness, smarter parking spot selection, and overall system sentience. FSD is evolving fast — and version 14.2 is another big leap.
