Kia’s EV2 Enters the Ring: Compact, Confident, and Coming Soon

From Concept to Reality

Kia’s EV family is growing again — this time, smaller. The all-new EV2, first revealed as a concept earlier this year, will make its production debut on January 9 at the Brussels Motor Show.

Though the official specs are still under wraps, the EV2 will be Kia’s most affordable EV yet, aiming for a price around €30,000 ($35,000). It’s designed to go head-to-head with compact rivals like the Renault 4 E-Tech.

What We Know So Far

Kia has released teaser images, revealing that much of the concept’s bold design carries over. Key elements like the squared-off front, sharp roofline slope, rear spoiler, and athletic stance remain intact.

Of course, a few adjustments were made for production. The front overhang is longer (to meet crash standards), and the car now includes a visible B-pillar. But the EV2 still looks like a serious city-friendly crossover with attitude.

A Practical, Flexible Cabin

Kia promises “roomy, adjustable space” inside, taking cues from the concept’s clever seating design. While full interior details will arrive at launch, expect a flexible layout built for urban life — and parking. The concept allowed passengers to slide the front bench and fold the rear seats to create lounge-style seating.
This kind of versatility could appeal to younger buyers or city dwellers who value functionality over flash.
If Kia keeps even part of that design, the EV2 might punch above its weight in everyday usability.

Affordable Performance, Not AWD

Despite its sporty SUV appearance, the EV2 will likely come with front-wheel drive only and a single electric motor — even on GT trims. It’s also expected to use Kia’s 400-volt charging architecture, not the faster 800V found in the EV6.

Range and power haven’t been confirmed yet. But if it mirrors the related Hyundai Inster, expect up to 229 miles of range and around 113 hp. Let’s hope Kia tunes it for a bit more punch.
