A Record-Breaking Start to 2026

Renault’s Filante Record 2025 just pulled off something extraordinary. On December 18th, it drove 1,008 km (626 miles) in under 10 hours, averaging 102 km/h, all without a single recharge.

It used an 87 kWh battery—the same one found in the production Scenic E-Tech—and still had 11% charge left at the finish. That’s enough to go another 120 km, even at high speeds.

Not Just Range—Efficiency

The Filante averaged an energy consumption of just 7.8 kWh/100 km—nearly 8 miles per kWh. That’s efficiency far beyond anything seen in today’s production EVs.

And this wasn’t a low-speed lab test. This was real-world, high-speed endurance.

The Secret? Lightweight + Aero Mastery

At just 1,000 kg (2,200 lbs), Filante is built for minimal drag and maximum efficiency. A redesigned body, narrow Michelin tires, steer-by-wire, and advanced materials all contributed to its record.

Designers also cut aerodynamic drag by reshaping wheel fairings and reducing air intakes. Everything was optimized—even the cockpit, which takes cues from aviation and F1.

The Human Factor

Three Renault drivers rotated through the challenge: Laurent Hurgon, Constance Léraud-Reyser, and Arthur Ferrière. Each described the run as intense, focused, and deeply personal.

This wasn’t just an engineering test—it was a collective achievement, blending passion, pressure, and precision.

Why It Matters

Filante won’t hit dealerships—but what it proves will. This “lab on wheels” gives Renault crucial insights into how to make future EVs more efficient, even at highway speeds.

As EV range anxiety fades, this record shows one clear message: electric cars can go farther, faster, and smarter—without compromise.
