Acura Teases All-Electric RSX Ahead of Monterey Debut

A Legendary Name Returns—Electrified

Acura is bringing back the RSX name, but this time, it’s going electric. The automaker teased a new image of the RSX EV prototype ahead of its global reveal at Monterey Car Week. This marks the first time the public will see the model without camouflage.

From Integra Roots to EV Future

The RSX name has history. Originally derived from the Honda Integra, the RSX was sold in North America from the early 2000s until the mid-decade and still enjoys a loyal following among JDM enthusiasts. Now, the badge returns as Acura’s first bespoke all-electric model, built at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio.

Vice president of sales Lance Woelfer first confirmed the project in January during Honda’s 2025 outlook briefing. The RSX EV will be the first to ride on Honda’s all-new EV platform and run the company’s ASIMO OS operating system, revealed at CES earlier this year.

Prototype Set for Monterey Car Week

Monterey Car Week is one of the world’s premier automotive events, attracting enthusiasts from around the globe. Acura will use the stage to showcase its RSX EV prototype, which is based on the automaker’s Performance EV Concept.

Despite its coupe-inspired name, the RSX EV will debut as an SUV, reflecting today’s market demand while aiming to retain the sporty spirit of its predecessors. Acura says the Monterey prototype “previews the new Acura RSX” that will arrive in dealerships in the second half of 2026.

A Glimpse of the Future

For now, the RSX EV remains in prototype form. However, the design cues and technology revealed next week will give fans a clear idea of what to expect from Acura’s electric era.

By combining a heritage nameplate with modern EV innovation, Acura is betting on nostalgia and forward-thinking design to capture both loyal fans and a new generation of drivers.
