A Refined First Attempt

Acura enters the electric game with the 2025 ZDX, its first all-electric SUV. Built on GM’s Ultium platform, it shares its underpinnings with the Cadillac Lyriq and Chevy Blazer EV. Still, Acura gives it a unique design and premium interior feel. The ZDX is offered in A-Spec and Type S trims, with up to 499 hp and a comfortable, quiet ride.

Design and Performance

The ZDX stands out with bold looks, a spacious interior, and a high-tech cabin. A-Spec trims come with rear- or all-wheel drive and up to 490 hp. Meanwhile, the Type S gets 499 hp and sportier tuning. Despite strong acceleration, handling doesn’t match Acura’s usual sharpness. Still, it delivers a smooth and quiet drive, even on its 22-inch wheels.

Range and Charging

Powered by a 102.0-kWh Ultium battery, the ZDX offers 313 miles of range in rear-drive A-Spec form, 304 with AWD, and 278 in the Type S. Real-world tests showed 260 miles for the Type S. Charging is fast, too — 10 minutes at a 190-kW DC fast charger can add up to 81 miles.

Interior and Tech

Inside, the ZDX offers premium features like leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. You’ll find Google’s Android Automotive running the infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included. The tech layout feels modern, though some GM switchgear breaks the immersion.

Safety and Value

All ZDX models come with AcuraWatch driver-assist features. An optional AcuraWatch 360+ adds hands-free driving and adaptive cruise control. With pricing between $66,000 and $75,000, it targets buyers looking for luxury, range, and practicality. Acura covers maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

Final Take

Acura’s first EV is polished and comfortable, though not as thrilling as the Type S badge suggests. For daily use and style-conscious buyers, the ZDX makes a solid case — even if it doesn’t fully break new ground.
