Avatr bets on a body style most brands left behind
While many automakers keep adding SUVs, Avatr is moving in a different direction. Its newly previewed 06T takes the 06 sedan and turns it into a low-slung shooting brake for buyers who still want something sportier and more distinctive.
That shift matters because the 06T is not just about style. Avatr will offer it in China as both a battery-electric model and a range-extended version, giving buyers two different ways to approach daily driving and longer trips.
The new shape changes the whole feel
The 06T rides on the same base as the 06 sedan, yet the longer roofline gives it a more natural silhouette. The rear now looks smoother, and the overall shape feels more resolved.
In terms of size, the wagon measures 4,940 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,475 mm in height. Its wheelbase stands at 2,940 mm. Avatr also previewed the car in a new finish called Liujin Orange, which adds to its sharper visual identity.
EV buyers get big power
Avatr plans three full-electric versions, all using an 89.33 kWh battery pack. The first rear-wheel-drive model produces 302 hp. A stronger rear-drive version raises that to 337 hp.
Then there is the flagship. The all-wheel-drive version adds a 282 hp front motor to two 337 hp rear motors for a combined 955 hp. Avatr has not published an acceleration figure yet, but it says every version will be limited to 149 mph (240 km/h).
A range-extender joins the lineup
Avatr will also sell a version with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine. That engine makes 154 hp, but it does not power the wheels. Instead, it works only as a generator for the battery. The wheels are driven by two rear electric motors rated at 248 hp each.
The company has not yet disclosed battery size, EV-only range, or total driving range for the extended-range model. Still, the formula is clear. The 06T is aimed at drivers who want striking wagon design, strong electric performance, and less stress on longer journeys.
