BMW iX3 Launches: Ultra-Fast, Ultra-Smart

The Start of a New Era

BMW calls the iX3 the “first Neue Klasse model,” and it’s easy to see why. This fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) blends new design language with sixth-generation eDrive tech. With up to 805 km (500 miles) of range and charging speeds peaking at 400 kW, it redefines long-distance driving. BMW says the iX3 signals a new era of “Sheer Driving Pleasure.”

Design That Tells a Story

The iX3’s look is bold yet minimal. A vertical kidney grille, flush surfaces, and clean aerodynamics give it presence without clutter. Every detail has been optimized for efficiency, dropping its drag coefficient to just 0.24. Inside, the design is modern and spacious, with a wrap-around cockpit and five full-size seats. Cargo space stretches up to 1,750 liters, plus 58 liters under the hood.

Power Meets Precision

Built on an 800V architecture, the iX3 can add 230 miles of range in just 10 minutes. Its usable battery capacity of 108.7 kWh supports efficiency as low as 15.1 kWh/100 km. The xDrive 50 delivers 469 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Future trims will include lower-cost versions with over 300 miles of range, starting under $55,000.

Superbrains and the Heart of Joy

Four high-performance computers—BMW calls them “superbrains”—make the iX3 smarter than any BMW before. They handle driving dynamics, infotainment, and automation with 20x faster processing. The “Heart of Joy” integrates drivetrain, brakes, and steering for seamless control. BMW Panoramic iDrive adds a new digital layer, projecting information across the windshield while retaining physical buttons for key functions.

Built for Tomorrow

Production begins this fall in Debrecen, Hungary, with deliveries in Europe in early 2026 and the US by summer. A China-specific version will also roll out from BMW’s Shenyang plant. Sustainability is at the core: the iX3 has 34% lower lifecycle emissions than its predecessor, with one-third of its materials sourced from recycled content.

BMW isn’t just launching a car—it’s launching a movement. With 40 new models planned by 2027, the iX3 is only the beginning.
