A Bold New Start for DS Automobiles
Meet the DS N°4, the sleek new crossover aiming to reboot Stellantis’ French luxury brand. Designed as the successor to the DS4, it arrives with a striking look and a fully electrified lineup. Available as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or full EV, the N°4 combines style, performance, and tech—all with the hope of reviving the DS brand’s momentum.
While DS isn’t a household name in the U.S., it’s positioning itself as the “Louis Vuitton of the auto world.”
Three Powertrains, One Elegant Form
The DS N°4 is closely related to the Peugeot 308 and Opel Astra, sharing their platform and tech underpinnings. However, its upscale design and unique identity set it apart.
Hybrid: A 1.2L turbo engine with a 28 hp electric motor delivers 145 hp. Perfect for city driving, where it can operate in EV mode about half the time.
Plug-In Hybrid: With 225 hp total output, it combines a 180 hp turbo engine and a 125 hp electric motor. The 14.6 kWh battery offers up to 50 miles (81 km) of electric range.
EV (E-Tense): Powered by a 213 hp motor and a 58.3 kWh battery, it achieves a range of 280 miles (WLTP). Charging from 20% to 80% takes just 30 minutes at up to 120 kW.
Design That Hints at the Past—and Future
The N°4 isn’t just about power—it’s about presence. It takes cues from the larger DS N°8 while refining its silhouette into a fastback form. Subtle changes, like lowering the vehicle by 10mm, improve both aerodynamics and efficiency.
Inside, it’s all DS: elegant, expressive, and forward-thinking.
A Critical Launch for DS Survival
DS has faced challenges in the past, with sales not meeting expectations. Stellantis is now watching closely. The N°4 must perform—alongside similar launches from Chrysler, Lancia, and Maserati—to keep the brand in the game.
This isn’t just another launch. It’s a make-or-break moment for DS Automobiles.
