Gemini Powers a Smarter Navigation Experience
Google Maps is no longer just a tool—it’s now your conversational co-pilot. Thanks to deep integration with Gemini, Google’s AI assistant, drivers can now ask more complex, real-time questions while navigating. Instead of tapping through menus, you can simply ask, “Find a vegan lunch spot with parking near my charger,” and follow up with ease.
Talk Like You’re Riding with a Friend
This update isn’t just voice commands—it’s real conversation. Unlike older voice assistants, Gemini allows back-and-forth questions. It pulls from Google Maps’ vast database, reviews, and user data to give helpful, human-like responses. Whether you want cheap sushi with a view or a high-speed charger near a clean restroom, Gemini makes it easy.
Smarter Features Rolling Out
You’ll also notice other upgrades. Google is introducing landmark-based navigation, which means you’ll hear directions like “turn right after the gas station” instead of “in 500 feet.” It makes following directions more intuitive—especially in unfamiliar areas.
Additionally, Google Maps now includes proactive traffic alerts even when you’re not navigating. If there’s a crash or slowdown ahead on your usual route, you’ll know before you even open the app.
EV Drivers, Rejoice
EV owners will especially benefit. Gemini lets you search for charging stations with real-time availability, charger speed, and even nearby food options. Need a 200 kW charger next to a decent coffee shop? Just ask.
Coming Soon to Android Auto—Eventually, CarPlay
The feature is rolling out to iOS and Android in the coming weeks. Android Auto integration is coming soon, but Apple CarPlay remains limited for now. Google says they’re exploring options for iPhone users.
