A Tiny EV With Big Personality
Honda is shaking up the entry-level EV market. The brand is bringing its playful electric hot hatch to the UK. It’s called the Super-N. And yes, it looks as fun as it sounds.
This compact EV already exists in Japan as the Super-One. However, Honda changed the name for the UK due to trademark issues. Still, the vibe stays the same. It’s quirky, small, and designed to stand out.
Built for Fun, Not Just Efficiency
The Super-N rides on Honda’s lightweight N-Series platform. It keeps things simple but adds a twist. Power starts at 63 horsepower. Then, Boost Mode kicks things up to 93 horsepower. That’s a big jump for such a tiny car.
Even more interesting, Honda adds driving drama. The car includes a simulated 7-speed gearbox. It also features an Active Sound Control system. So, it mimics the feel and noise of a gas-powered hot hatch. Similar ideas appear in models like the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N.
Small Size, Smart Range
This EV is seriously compact. It measures just under 3.4 meters long. That makes it smaller than the Renault Twingo E-Tech. Yet, it stays practical. The interior still offers enough room for everyday use, even for small families.
Range looks decent too. Honda targets about 128 miles on the WLTP cycle. In city driving, that jumps to nearly 200 miles. That makes it ideal for urban life.
Affordable EV Strategy
Here’s the real headline. Pricing starts under £20,000, or about $27,000. That’s a huge shift from the older Honda e, which cost nearly double.
Honda clearly wants to win on affordability this time. And that matters. The budget EV space is heating up fast. Rivals like Kia and Volkswagen are preparing their own low-cost electric cars.
Can It Compete?
The Super-N enters a crowded field. Models like the upcoming Volkswagen ID.1 will fight for attention. Still, Honda has a unique angle. The design feels bold. The driving experience feels playful.
Pre-orders in Japan open soon. Meanwhile, the UK launch is set for July. If Honda delivers on price and personality, this tiny EV could make a big impact.
