Jaguar Type 00: A 1,000-HP EV GT Redefining Luxury

Jaguar has unveiled the striking Type 00 concept, a preview of its forthcoming all-electric grand tourer (GT), at Miami Art Week. This sleek prototype provides a glimpse of the automaker’s new design language and technical aspirations for its electric-vehicle future. The production model, set to debut in 2025, will be part of Jaguar’s ambitious electrification reboot.

Unmatched Performance and Range

Jaguar has revealed that the production four-door GT will aim for 1,000 horsepower and an EPA-rated range of 430 miles, positioning it as a high-performance, long-distance electric luxury vehicle. While specific powertrain configurations and battery details remain under wraps, the GT is expected to offer cutting-edge fast-charging capabilities, adding up to 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes using DC fast chargers.

A Bold New Look

The two-door Type 00 concept showcases a bold, angular design with a nod to Jaguar’s classic E-Type heritage, featuring a long hood and a short rear deck. The absence of a rear window mirrors design trends seen in models like the Polestar 4, with rear visibility likely provided by a camera system.

Unique slatted motifs on the front, rear, and even the roof create a cohesive aesthetic, while redesigned Jaguar logos and massive 23-inch wheels underline the concept’s modern yet brutish character.

High-Tech Minimalism Inside

Inside, the Type 00 concept offers a clean, futuristic cabin. A floating oval steering wheel and divider between the seats emphasize simplicity, while hidden digital screens span the dashboard, retracting when not in use. This blend of elegance and advanced technology reflects Jaguar’s vision for the future of luxury interiors.

A New Era for Jaguar EVs

The production GT will be the first of three all-electric models to emerge from Jaguar’s 2021 reboot plan. Following the GT, a large SUV and a more traditional sedan are expected, all based on the Jaguar Electrified Architecture (JEA) platform. These vehicles will feature North American Charging Standard (NACS) ports, ensuring compatibility with Tesla’s Supercharger network.

Jaguar has been phasing out its gasoline-powered lineup and the I-Pace EV, leaving only the F-Pace SUV in showrooms until the new electric models arrive. With the GT set to launch at an estimated $163,000, Jaguar is setting its sights on reclaiming its place as a leader in luxury and innovation.
