A Hybrid Version of a Best-Selling SUV
Kia is bringing electrification to one of its most successful models. The 2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid (HEV) will start at $46,490 for the EX front-wheel-drive trim, introducing hybrid efficiency to the popular three-row SUV.
The new powertrain blends performance with improved fuel economy. Kia estimates 35 mpg combined for the EX FWD model and a potential driving range of up to 637 miles. That combination targets families who want better efficiency without sacrificing space or versatility.
At the same time, Kia has slightly expanded the Telluride’s dimensions. The updated design provides more headroom in the first two rows, easier access to the third row, and increased cargo capacity. The result is a more practical SUV that now integrates hybrid technology.
More Power, Better Efficiency
Under the hood, Kia pairs a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine with a 1.65-kWh lithium-ion battery and electric motor system. Together, the hybrid setup produces 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque.
That output represents a meaningful upgrade over the previous gasoline Telluride, which generated 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. In other words, the hybrid version not only improves efficiency but also delivers stronger performance.
Power is delivered through a six-speed automatic transmission, while buyers can choose between front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The SUV also includes electric Vehicle Motion Control (e-VMC) as standard. This system coordinates motor output and braking to enhance handling stability and overall ride refinement.
Capability Remains a Priority
Even with a hybrid powertrain, the Telluride keeps the capability expected from a three-row SUV.
The vehicle offers 4,500 pounds of standard towing capacity, making it suitable for trailers, boats, and family travel. Buyers can also select an available self-leveling rear suspension, which helps maintain balance and ride comfort when carrying heavier loads.
These features ensure the Telluride Hybrid remains a versatile vehicle for everyday driving and longer road trips.

A Strategic Hybrid Expansion
With the Telluride Hybrid, Kia is expanding electrification across its SUV lineup while maintaining the practicality that made the model successful. The hybrid variant offers a compelling balance of power, efficiency, and space.
For many buyers, it may represent an appealing step toward electrified driving — without the need to move fully to a battery-electric vehicle.
