Kia’s Electric Momentum: Records, Upgrades, and What’s Next

Kia’s Electric Momentum: Records, Upgrades, and What’s Next

Another Record-Breaking Quarter

Kia is on a roll. The automaker just posted its best U.S. sales quarter ever, moving nearly 220,000 vehicles from July through September 2025. That puts Kia on pace for its third straight record year, with 636,148 vehicles sold so far — a 9% jump from last year.

EVs Driving the Surge

Much of Kia’s momentum comes from its electric lineup. The EV9, Kia’s flagship three-row SUV, just had its strongest quarter yet, with over 7,500 units sold. The company has already delivered more than 12,000 EV9s this year, and the refreshed 2026 model is now arriving at dealerships. The smaller EV6 is also gaining traction, moving 2,116 units in September and surpassing 11,000 for the year.

Fresh Features for 2026

Kia updated both the EV6 and EV9 for 2026 with one big improvement: a built-in NACS port. This means owners can now access Tesla’s Supercharger network, dramatically expanding charging options. With range figures of up to 319 miles for the EV6 Long Range and 305 miles for the EV9 Long Range, Kia’s EVs are positioned as practical road-trip companions.

The Brand Transformation Pays Off

Since Kia’s brand overhaul in 2021 — complete with a new logo, bold designs, and a shift toward electrification — the company has been rewriting its playbook. Sales are not just rising in the U.S. but also across Europe and other global markets. Eric Watson, Kia America’s sales chief, says the company is now on track for its highest-ever U.S. market share, thanks to its “world-class model lineup.”

What’s Coming Next

The EV4, Kia’s first electric sedan, launches in early 2026, expanding the lineup beyond SUVs. Positioned as a stylish, affordable option, it’s expected to help Kia capture even more of the growing EV market. With momentum in both sales and product development, Kia is proving it’s no longer just a value brand — it’s a serious EV contender.
