Kia Debuts Next-Gen PV5 Chassis Cab and Full Fleet Ecosystem at SOLUTRANS 2025
At SOLUTRANS 2025 in Lyon, Kia pulled back the curtain on the PV5 Chassis Cab, the brand’s most flexible and capable electric van yet. But the real headline? It wasn’t just a van—Kia also launched an entire ecosystem for commercial customers, aiming to reshape the future of light electric vehicles in Europe.
Built for Customization, Powered by Intelligence
The PV5 Chassis Cab is built on Kia’s new E-GMP.S platform, designed exclusively for electric light commercial vehicles. Its compact sub-five-metre frame offers up to 1,005 kg of payload and 8 m³ of cargo space, all while maintaining tight urban maneuverability.
It was co-developed with European converters, allowing the van to support multiple real-world applications:
- Dropside for agriculture or construction
- Tipper for waste management
- Box Vans for parcel delivery
- Refrigerated units for grocery logistics
- Even a food truck for mobile catering
To prove the point, Kia converted a demo van into a fully working food truck—serving up coffee and Lyon’s iconic pink praline brioche pastries to showgoers.
Battery Options, Fast Charging, and Class-Leading Features
The PV5 comes with two battery packs—51.5 kWh and 71.2 kWh. Depending on the setup, it can deliver up to 416 km of range (WLTP) and charge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes via 150 kW DC fast charging. Safety is top-notch, with ADAS features like Smart Cruise Control 2 and Lane Following Assist 2.
Kia Business Solutions Ecosystem: Built for Fleets
Kia didn’t stop at the van. The company unveiled its new Business Solutions Ecosystem, a full suite of tools covering:
- DRIVE: Android OS infotainment with AI Assist, OTA updates, and PLEOS app market
- CHARGE: Access to over 1 million public chargers across 30+ countries
- CONNECT: Fleet management tools with real-time vehicle data and driver insights
- WORK: A single portal for fleet management, role assignment, and app integration
These services are built to reduce downtime, simplify operations, and scale with growing fleets. Businesses can even access flexible vehicle rentals through Kia Drive for Business.
A Van with Records—and Awards—to Prove It
The PV5 has already made waves. It recently broke a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD™, traveling 693.38 km on a single charge with full payload. It’s also racked up industry recognition, winning Van of the Year, Best Electric Van, and the ‘One to Watch’ award from What Van? and Parkers.
Scaling Up with Dedicated Production
Kia has opened its new EVO Plant East in South Korea, capable of producing 250,000 PV5s annually. It will build Passenger, Cargo, Chassis Cab, and WAV models—all under one roof.
Experience It Firsthand at SOLUTRANS
From Nov 18–22, visitors can check out the PV5 lineup at Hall 5, C 130. Alongside the world-record van, attendees can explore Kia’s full fleet ecosystem, including PBV Charging, Kia Connect tools, and the all-new Android Automotive OS.
Kia is no longer just building vans—it’s building the future of electric business mobility.
