Unmatched Electric Range
Lucid Motors has rewritten the rules for electric vehicles. Their flagship Lucid Air Grand Touring completed an astonishing 1,205 kilometers (749 miles) on a single charge, setting a new official Guinness World Record. This impressive feat beat the previous mark by nearly 160 kilometers (99 miles), proving Lucid’s technology is leading the pack in EV range and efficiency.
The Record-Breaking Journey
The record-setting drive took place on a challenging route from St. Moritz, Switzerland, to Munich, Germany. The trip covered alpine roads, highways, and winding secondary streets—no easy terrain to achieve maximum efficiency. Despite the tough conditions, the Lucid Air Grand Touring handled the route flawlessly, relying on precise engineering and careful hypermiling rather than shortcuts or ideal weather.
Engineering Excellence Behind the Feat
Lucid’s success comes from its advanced technology and design. The Air Grand Touring boasts a massive 117 kWh battery pack and a rare 900-volt electrical architecture, which boosts both efficiency and charging speed. This system outperforms competitors like the Tesla Model S, which uses a 450-volt system. Coupled with an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.197, the car is engineered to maximize every bit of energy and travel further than almost any other EV.
A New Era for Electric Mobility
Lucid’s CEO, Peter Rawlinson, formerly Tesla’s chief engineer, leads a team dedicated to pushing electric vehicle technology beyond traditional limits. With energy consumption as low as 13.5 kWh per 100 km and a WLTP-rated range up to 823 km (512 miles), the Air Grand Touring offers a glimpse of what’s possible in electric driving. While the price tag remains high, this record-setting performance cements Lucid’s position as the quiet disruptor and reigning champion of EV range in the luxury electric market. The question now is, how much further can electric mobility evolve?
