Record-Breaking Drive
The Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor has just delivered a shock to the EV world.
On public roads in the UK, this premium electric SUV covered an astonishing 935.44 km (581.3 miles) on a single charge. That’s nearly 230 km (143 miles) beyond its official WLTP rating of 706 km (435 miles)—a huge leap for an SUV of its size and class.
The journey lasted 22 hours and 57 minutes, with no modifications or experimental tricks. It was a showroom-ready model anyone could buy. This performance earned the Polestar 3 the Guinness World Record for the longest distance driven by an electric SUV on a single charge.
The SUV That Went the Distance
This wasn’t some stripped-down concept car built only to break records.
It was a regular production Polestar 3 featuring a 295 hp rear-mounted motor, 111 kWh battery, 20-inch wheels, and Michelin Sport 4 EV tires.
Even more impressively, it reached its WLTP range and still had 20% battery left—enough to squeeze out an extra 12.8 km (8 miles) before hitting zero.
Polestar UK Managing Director Matt Galvin said the run proves that the old claim “EVs can’t go far” now belongs in the history books.
Behind the Wheel
The marathon was a team effort. Professional efficiency drivers—Sam Clarke, Kevin Booker, and Richard Parker—rotated every three hours to maintain smooth, efficient driving.
A Guinness World Record judge, Paulina Sapinska, verified the run from start to finish. And yes—the Polestar 3 made it to a charger afterward without roadside assistance.
Why This Matters
The run delivered 5.13 miles/kWh efficiency, edging past the Lucid Air Pure’s 5.0 miles/kWh.
It joins other headline runs:
- Lucid Air Grand Touring – 749 miles
- Chevy Silverado EV Work Truck – 1,059 miles
With battery tech advancing fast, ultra-long-range EVs are no longer future promises—they’re here. And the Polestar 3 just proved it.
