Stellantis has reportedly scrapped the highly anticipated 500-mile battery option for the Ram 1500 Rev, leaving buyers with a max range of just 350 miles. This decision could shake up the electric truck market.
500-Mile Battery Gets the Axe
According to Mopar Insiders, Stellantis has told suppliers to stop working on parts for the 229 kWh battery pack. That means the Rev will now top out with a 168 kWh battery, giving it an estimated 350-mile range—still solid, but far from the promised long-range king.
This move comes after Stellantis delayed the Ram 1500 Rev’s launch to 2026 to focus on the Ramcharger, a hybrid model with a gas-powered range extender capable of 690 miles.
Why Stellantis Pulled the Plug
The official reason? Stellantis says it wants to prioritize Ramcharger technology. However, industry insiders believe the company may be reacting to shifting EV policies under the new Trump administration, which is rolling back emissions regulations and clean energy incentives.
Another rumored factor? Cost. Massive battery packs drive up vehicle prices, and as EV demand fluctuates, automakers are reconsidering their long-range options.
How This Compares to Other EV Trucks
With the 500-mile version scrapped, the Ram 1500 Rev now lands closer to competitors:
- Ford F-150 Lightning Flash – 320 miles (131 kWh battery)
- Chevy Silverado EV – Up to 450 miles (200 kWh battery)
- Tesla Cybertruck – Estimated 340-500 miles (varies by trim)
Without its long-range advantage, Ram will need to compete on features, performance, and pricing instead.
What’s Next for the Ram 1500 Rev?
Stellantis hasn’t commented on whether a future long-range version could return. For now, the Ramcharger hybrid may be their new flagship alternative. But for buyers wanting an all-electric truck with 500 miles of range, options are now shrinking.
