Pricing Climbs Slightly for 2026
Rivian has revealed pricing updates for its 2026 R1S SUV and R1T pickup. Across the board, prices will rise by $90 to $1,090. The base R1T Dual Standard starts at $70,990, while the R1S Dual Standard now begins at $76,990.
Top-tier Tri Max variants come in at $100,990 for the R1T and $106,990 for the R1S—each jumping by $1,090 from last year. These figures exclude the increased $1,895 delivery fee.
Performance Upgrade Still in Play
Buyers can still opt for the $5,000 Performance Upgrade on most dual-motor models. This software update boosts horsepower and improves acceleration—either at purchase or after delivery. It’s a digital unlock that turns your EV into a quicker, sportier ride.
Charging Tech Evolves
While Rivian hasn’t revealed the full feature set for 2026, one change is highly likely. Based on a now-deleted video, both models may ship with a Tesla-style NACS charging port. This means direct compatibility with Tesla Superchargers—no adapter needed.
However, using other networks like Electrify America or EVgo may now require a CCS adapter, flipping the current charging reality on its head. It’s a shift that aligns with growing industry standards.
Range and Power Stay Strong
The R1S currently delivers 270 to 410 miles of range depending on battery selection. The R1T stretches slightly further, up to 420 miles. With a max 850 horsepower and 0–60 mph in just 2.9 seconds, these vehicles are already top-tier in performance.
A quad-motor version is also on the horizon, promising even more power—though pricing remains under wraps.
A More Affordable Option is Coming
If the new prices feel out of reach, don’t worry. Rivian’s smaller and more affordable R2 SUV is set to launch in early 2026 with a projected starting price of $45,000.
Rivian’s strategy is clear: premium today, practical tomorrow.
