Rivian’s New 2026.07 Update Brings Smarter Features and Fixes

Rivian’s New 2026.07 Update Brings Smarter Features and Fixes

Rivian is preparing its 2026.07 software update, bringing several useful improvements to the R1T pickup and R1S SUV. The update focuses on everyday usability, connectivity upgrades, and system fixes that improve the overall driving experience.

Although the changes are not massive, they add noticeable refinements that Rivian owners will likely appreciate.

Smarter Features for Everyday Driving

One practical change improves how drivers use the vehicle in cold weather.

With the new update, activating rear window defrost will automatically turn on the heating element for the front windshield wipers. This helps clear ice and snow more efficiently without requiring extra steps.

In addition, Rivian continues improving the vehicle’s infotainment system. The update introduces Dolby Audio support for Apple Music, delivering richer sound quality for compatible tracks.

Rivian also adds a new streaming quality setting, allowing drivers to reduce buffering when internet connections are weak.

Improved Connectivity and Infotainment

The 2026.07 update also targets connectivity performance.

Rivian has improved Wi-Fi, cellular, and app communication stability. As a result, the system should maintain stronger connections during everyday use.

Drivers will also see better in-vehicle notifications when network issues occur, helping them understand why certain features may temporarily stop working.

Meanwhile, Rivian optimized the infotainment system itself. Apps now launch faster, and the overall interface should feel smoother during use.

Another small but helpful fix resolves an issue where TuneIn radio titles briefly flashed incorrect information.

Reliability Updates Across the Vehicle

Beyond infotainment, Rivian refined several vehicle systems.

The update improves 12-volt battery capacity management, which supports more stable electrical performance across the vehicle.

For second-generation Rivian vehicles, the update introduces several additional improvements.

Gen 2 Rivian Vehicles Get Extra Fixes

Owners of Gen 2 R1T and R1S models receive several targeted updates.

Rivian fixed an issue where Lane Change on Command sometimes rejected follow-up lane change requests. The update also reduces steering wheel vibration at highway speeds.

In addition, engineers addressed inconsistent range estimate fluctuations, helping drivers receive more reliable battery predictions.

Other fixes include improvements to 12-volt battery diagnostics, protection against a rare electronic parking brake fault, and a solution for a charge port door that could occasionally stick after exposure to water.

Rolling Out Soon

Rivian typically distributes software updates over the air. Owners should see version 2026.07 appear soon in their vehicle’s software settings.

Like many modern EVs, Rivian continues refining its vehicles through software—making them better over time without a trip to the service center.
