Stellantis Hits the Brakes

Stellantis Hits the Brakes

Sales Slump Continues

Stellantis is still stuck in reverse. After a rough 2024 with a 15% drop in U.S. sales, 2025 isn’t starting any better. The first quarter saw another 12% decline, with total deliveries falling to 293,225 units. For a company managing 14 car brands, that’s a steep slide.

Chrysler’s Lone Bright Spot

Out of the entire Stellantis lineup, only Chrysler posted a meaningful gain—thanks to the Pacifica minivan. It sold 35,069 units in Q1, nearly all of which were Pacificas. Of those, 4,148 were plug-in hybrids, showing growing interest in electrified family haulers. That’s a 98% year-over-year jump for the brand.

Fiat’s Flashy Growth—But Tiny Numbers

Fiat saw a 239% increase in U.S. sales, largely due to the new 500e electric car. Sounds impressive, right? But dig deeper and you’ll find the brand only moved 522 vehicles in total. That’s up from 154 last year—but still barely a blip.

Dodge and Jeep: A Mixed EV Bag

Dodge delivered 1,947 electric Charger Daytonas, nearly doubling the final gas-powered model’s sales. Still, overall Dodge sales were down 49%. The old Charger and Challenger are officially out of production, though a few 2023 models remain on dealer lots.

Jeep’s new all-electric Wagoneer S launched with 2,595 units sold in Q1. Sales rose 21% from February to March. Jeep’s plug-in hybrids—Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe—also saw a 36% sales bump from February to March.

However, comparing year-over-year:

  • Wrangler 4xe sales dropped 48%
  • Grand Cherokee 4xe fell 12%

Combined, these models still made a decent showing:

  • Wrangler 4xe: 9,887 units (26% of all Wrangler sales)
  • Grand Cherokee 4xe: 11,147 units (23% of total sales)

The Bigger Picture

Despite some electric momentum, most Stellantis brands are slipping. The automaker is banking on new EV launches to help, but for now, the numbers tell a tough story: one strong minivan can’t carry an entire empire.
