Big Boost in Power and Speed
Subaru has upgraded the 2026 Solterra EV into something no one expected: its fastest production car ever. With a major performance bump, this all-electric SUV now delivers 338 horsepower and 323 lb-ft of torque—enough to rocket it from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds, according to Car and Driver testing. That’s quicker than the legendary WRX STI and BRZ. And no, this isn’t even a performance trim.
More Range, Same Price
Speed isn’t the only improvement. The new Solterra also gets a larger 74.7 kWh battery, pushing its range up to 288 miles—a big step up from last year’s 227 miles. Despite all these upgrades, pricing starts at $38,495, unchanged from the outgoing model.
Subaru’s all-wheel-drive system has also been enhanced, maintaining the brand’s grip-first DNA. The Solterra now pairs off-road confidence with on-road dominance.
Charging Made Easier
Subaru is joining the Tesla Supercharger party. The 2026 Solterra includes a NACS port, giving drivers access to North America’s most expansive fast-charging network. No extra adapters. No waiting.
Drag-Ready, Yet Family Friendly
On the track, the Solterra matches the STI S209 in the quarter-mile at 13.0 seconds, but off the line, it’s faster thanks to instant electric torque. Yet inside, it’s all comfort—upgraded materials, a sleek cabin, and a range of trims: Premium, Limited, Limited XT, and Touring XT.
A Glimpse at Subaru’s Electric Future?
Subaru hasn’t announced a performance variant yet, but the Performance-E STI Concept, shown at the Japan Mobility Show, hints at what’s next. And with new EV models like the Trailseeker on the horizon, the Solterra may only be the start of Subaru’s high-voltage rise.
The Solterra proves that Subaru’s EV era isn’t just about going green—it’s about going fast.
