Swamp Lights & Gator Sounds: Rivian’s Halloween Flex

Swamp Mode Activated: Rivian’s Creepiest Update Yet

Rivian is back with another Halloween-themed software surprise—and this time, it’s swampy. The EV maker has launched the “Spooky Swamp” car costume, a fully immersive experience that turns your R1 vehicle into a rolling haunted bayou.

The over-the-air (OTA) update rolls out from October 21 to November 1, just in time to scare your neighbors, entertain passengers, or simply show off your love for seasonal flair.

What’s in the Swamp?

Once activated through the Rivian mobile app, the Spooky Swamp mode transforms both Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicles with custom swamp visuals, creepy lighting, and chilling sound effects.

Inside the cabin, you’ll hear haunting new music tracks, plus six short sound effects designed to spook unsuspecting passengers. Gen 2 vehicles also get flickering overhead lights, adding to the haunted cabin vibe. On all interior screens, swamp creatures and dark waters creep across the displays.

Outside, Gen 2 owners can activate four light-and-sound sequences:

  • Swamp Gas: A deep alligator roar followed by bubbling muck.
  • Scary Spirit: Glowing demon eyes that slither across the LED light bar.
  • Bayou Blast: A jarring, energetic mix of lights and eerie audio.
  • Player Piano: A ghostly, vintage tune straight from a forgotten swamp shack.
  • Gen 1 owners get one haunting exterior effect, along with three spooky interior sound profiles.

Don’t Miss the Easter Eggs

Rivian’s Halloween flair runs deeper than just lights and sounds. The All-Purpose drive mode now displays a fully animated swamp on the center screen. Tap different areas to discover hidden surprises.

There’s also a Bog Frog lock sound and a swampy Gear Guard animation for rear-seat passengers to discover.

Times Square Goes Haunted

On October 21, Rivian is taking over Times Square with a live, interactive “Spooky Swamp” playground. Expect immersive LED walls, ride-alongs, Halloween trivia, and shareable video souvenirs.

Final Take

Rivian once again proves that software updates don’t have to be boring. They can be seasonal, fun, and even a little spooky. Happy frunk-or-treating!
