Tesla has officially confirmed that the refreshed Model Y “Juniper” will soon be available with a seven-seat configuration. The highly-requested option addresses a key demand from customers who need extra seating without upgrading to the larger Model X.
What’s New with Model Y Juniper?
The Juniper edition of the Model Y launched worldwide last month, featuring a redesigned interior and exterior, improved suspension, and acoustic-laminated glass to reduce cabin noise. However, the initial “Launch Edition” only came in a five-seat layout, leaving many buyers wondering if a third-row option would return.
Tesla has now confirmed that a seven-seat version is on the way. While the Model Y remains a compact crossover, the additional row will provide more flexibility for families. The original seven-seat Model Y, introduced several years ago, was best suited for children or smaller adults due to its limited rear space. Despite the tight fit, it remains a popular alternative to the pricier Model X.
More Options Coming Soon
Tesla also revealed that the seven-seat Model Y will arrive by the end of the year. Alongside this configuration, a high-performance variant is expected to launch, following multiple sightings of upgraded test vehicles. These updates keep the Model Y competitive as it continues to hold its title as the world’s best-selling car.
Tesla’s move to expand seating options strengthens its appeal to families and those seeking an affordable, spacious EV. With these additions, the Model Y remains a top choice for those wanting practicality without sacrificing performance.
