Goodbye Gas, Hello Free Charging
Tesla has just launched a new offer for American drivers: 2,000 free Supercharging miles when trading in a gas-powered vehicle for a new Tesla. This promotion applies to both purchases and leases, making it easier than ever to go electric.
It’s another push from Tesla to speed up the shift to sustainable mobility—and showcase the convenience of its global Supercharger network.
How It Works
Once a customer trades in a gas vehicle and takes delivery of a new Tesla, the free miles are automatically credited to their Tesla account. These Supercharging miles can be used at any Tesla Supercharger station, and they’re valid for two years from the delivery date.
Tesla estimates the 2,000 miles cover around 800 to 1,000 kWh of energy, which varies depending on driving style and model. That’s enough for most drivers to travel up to 3,200 kilometers (2,000 miles) without spending a cent on charging.
More Than Just Free Miles
The offer isn’t just about savings—it’s about the full Tesla experience. Tesla’s email to customers promotes the idea of never paying for gas again, encouraging buyers to imagine road trips powered entirely by electricity.
Features like Tesla Trip Planner, Caraoke, and Tesla Theater help make long journeys more enjoyable—turning your EV into an entertainment hub on wheels.
U.S.-Only (For Now)
Currently, this promotion is exclusive to the U.S. market. Canadian buyers won’t see the same Supercharging offer, though Tesla is offering $3,000 off inventory Model 3s and low-interest financing on the Model Y in Canada.
Still, this U.S. trade-in deal is one of Tesla’s most direct nudges yet: switch to electric, and your first few thousand miles are on them.
Why It Matters
As more automakers enter the EV space, Tesla is doubling down on what it does best: a seamless ownership experience powered by its charging network. This trade-in incentive isn’t just about short-term perks—it’s a strategic nudge toward a gas-free future, wrapped in convenience and backed by infrastructure.
