Polestar is making it easier than ever to buy a used electric vehicle with confidence. Starting in May 2025, the Swedish EV brand now includes battery state-of-health (BSOH) certificates for certified pre-owned Polestar 2 models. These reports show the current usable battery capacity, helping eliminate one of the biggest unknowns in the used EV market.
Battery degradation is often a concern for secondhand EV buyers. With Polestar’s new certification process, that uncertainty is addressed head-on, offering clear data about the car’s most valuable component.
What Makes a Certified Pre-Owned Polestar
To earn Polestar’s certified status, a used Polestar 2 must pass a rigorous 112-point inspection. This process ensures each vehicle meets high standards in performance, safety, and digital readiness.
Certified vehicles come with:
- A 24-month limited warranty
- The remainder of the 8-year / 160,000 km battery warranty
- A BSOH certificate that shows remaining battery capacity
- Verified service, mileage, and ownership history
- Roadside assistance for peace of mind
The result is a used car that drives, performs, and updates more like new—backed by transparent documentation.
OTA Updates Keep Cars Evolving
The Polestar 2 is unique in its ability to improve over time. Since its 2020 launch, the vehicle has received over 20 over-the-air (OTA) software updates. These updates have added new features like Apple CarPlay, YouTube, and Waze, as well as battery efficiency improvements that extend driving range.
Used buyers benefit from this tech-forward approach. Their cars receive regular updates long after their original sale, keeping them relevant and fully functional.
