Walmart’s EV Chargers Could Undercut Tesla Superchargers!

Walmart’s EV Chargers Could Undercut Tesla Superchargers!

Walmart is rolling out EV chargers at stores nationwide, potentially shaking up the charging landscape. With stations popping up across Dallas, Texas, and beyond, some locations even offered free fast charging through the Walmart app. Now, with pricing set at $0.35 per kWh, these chargers could become a cheaper alternative to Tesla Superchargers.

Walmart’s Charging Network Grows

Recent reports confirm that multiple Walmart locations have installed chargers, many of which are already online or set to activate soon. The chargers are Walmart-branded, and some users say they can only be accessed via a QR code in the Walmart app.

A full-scale rollout is expected by 2030, covering both Walmart and Sam’s Club locations. If pricing remains competitive, these chargers could disrupt the current fast-charging market.

A Tesla Supercharger Alternative?

For reference, Tesla’s Supercharger rates vary by location, with many sitting between $0.35 and $0.50 per kWh. If Walmart maintains its flat $0.35 per kWh rate, Tesla owners might have a new, more affordable option—especially if Walmart+ members get exclusive discounts.

One user noted that with Walmart’s growing network, they might never need a Tesla charger again. Could this be the competition Tesla needs to lower its prices?

What’s Next?

Walmart’s charging rollout is still in its early stages, but expansion is moving fast. Some locations are reportedly installing 200 kW chargers, making them comparable to existing EVgo and Electrify America stations.

If Walmart can provide reliable, affordable fast charging, it could change where and how EV drivers charge. The big question: Will other major retailers like Target and Costco follow suit?

Would you choose Walmart’s chargers over Tesla’s?
