Tesla has officially started inviting customers to order the non-Foundation Series Cybertruck, marking a new phase for the highly anticipated all-electric pickup truck. Starting at $79,990 before any options, this version comes in at a lower price point than the Foundation Series, which added $20,000 in extras and perks.
Standard Cybertruck AWD Now Available
The base version, the Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive (AWD), is now accessible without the extras in the Foundation Series, allowing customers to configure a simpler version of the vehicle. For example, individuals can order a Cybertruck AWD with Core Wheels and Covers, Tactical Grey Decor, and no Full Self-Driving (FSD) option for $79,990, excluding taxes and fees.
The non-Foundation Series Cybertruck starts deliveries as soon as October to November 2024, based on screenshots shared on social media and forums. However, Tesla has not yet confirmed if the vehicle qualifies for the U.S. federal tax credit. It’s also worth noting that the standard Cybertruck AWD has a slightly reduced range of 325 miles per charge, compared to the 340-mile range of the Foundation Series version.
Foundation Series Still Holds Value for Some Buyers
While the standard version of the Cybertruck offers a more budget-friendly entry, some early adopters still find value in the Foundation Series. With extras like FSD, the Cyber Wheels, White Interior Color, and a Tesla Shop voucher, many have noted that the premium price was worth the added features and perks. For those who opted for the Cyberbeast model, the price difference becomes marginal when factoring in all the accessories and features included.
As Tesla prepares for broader Cybertruck deliveries, the introduction of non-Foundation Series options could open the door to a larger customer base. The lower price point, combined with the ability to customize, may attract buyers looking for a more affordable all-electric pickup. However, the final success of the model will depend on how the non-Foundation Series fares in terms of production and consumer interest.
