Lexus RZ Gets More Power, Range & a Sporty F Sport Trim

Lexus is taking its RZ electric crossover to the next level with more range, better performance, and a high-performance F Sport model. The update, set to launch in Europe this fall, includes a larger battery, improved efficiency, and faster charging. While Lexus hasn’t confirmed all these upgrades for North America yet, the changes signal a stronger push into premium EV territory.

More Power, Sharper Handling

The new Lexus RZ 550e F Sport is built for performance. It features dual-motor all-wheel drive producing 402 horsepower, up from previous models. With a larger rear motor and improved power distribution, Lexus promises quicker acceleration and sharper handling.

Key Performance Upgrades:

  • 402 hp dual-motor AWD setup
  • Better torque distribution for improved cornering
  • Revised suspension for a sportier ride
  • New 20-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic covers

Lexus has also tweaked the steer-by-wire system, available in European models, to improve responsiveness and reduce vibrations.

Bigger Battery, Longer Range

The 2026 RZ now comes with a 77 kWh battery, replacing the previous 71.4 kWh pack. Lexus claims the new setup will boost range by up to 60 miles, likely for the base model.

Charging & Battery Improvements:

  • Faster Level 2 charging with a new 22 kW AC charger
  • Battery pre-conditioning for better DC fast-charging
  • Water cooling for enhanced battery efficiency

Lexus is also doubling the towing capacity on AWD versions to 3,300 pounds, making the RZ more versatile for adventure-seekers.

Premium Interior & Sporty F Sport Features

Inside, the RZ gets a refined cabin with better materials and more tech. Exclusive to the F Sport model, Lexus introduces an “Interactive Manual Drive” system, mimicking gear shifts with paddle shifters for a more engaging drive.

The 2026 Lexus RZ is expected in Europe later this year, with a North American release to follow. Whether features like steer-by-wire and the F Sport trim make it across the Atlantic remains to be seen.
