Mercedes-Benz is turning up the voltage in Texas. The luxury automaker is rapidly expanding its high-power EV charging network across the state. With over 150 charging stalls already live and more on the way, Texas is set to become a key player in the EV charging game. The goal? Build out 2,500 stalls across North America by 2030—starting deep in the heart of Texas.
Why Texas? EV Growth Meets Infrastructure Gaps
Texas ranks third in EV registrations nationwide, yet trails in infrastructure with only 13 chargers per 100,000 residents. Mercedes saw the gap—and seized the opportunity. With strong EV interest but lagging support, Texas offers the perfect testing ground for a robust charging rollout. Plus, homegrown favorite Buc-ee’s is on board as a site partner, bringing some Texas flair to the stations.
Fast, Reliable, and Ready for the Road
Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging lives up to its name. Each Texas site includes 400 kW chargers—some dedicated to a single vehicle, others shared at 200 kW each. These chargers can push a battery from 20% to 80% in under 20 minutes, depending on the vehicle. Reliability is key, and Mercedes leads the industry with 99% uptime.
Smart Locations, Premium Experience
Picking a charger site isn’t guesswork—it’s a data-driven art form. Mercedes uses EV registration trends and forecasts to choose prime locations. Each site is near essential amenities—restrooms, restaurants, and shopping—and emphasizes safety, lighting, and comfort. Partners like Starbucks, Buc-ee’s, and Simon Malls are helping to deliver a premium charging experience.
CCS Now, NACS Coming Soon
All Texas chargers currently support CCS-1, but NACS cables are on the way. Mercedes wants drivers to have charging freedom, no matter what plug they use. Even cable length is optimized for convenience, reflecting a thoughtful design for all EV models.
