BYD is keeping the momentum going with another new model—this time, the e7, a sleek mid-class electric sedan. The company just released teaser images, hinting at a stylish design and competitive specs. While BYD hasn’t shared full details yet, the e7 has already appeared in regulatory filings, revealing key insights about its size, powertrain, and battery options.
Key Specs: What We Know So Far
According to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the BYD e7 measures:
- Length: 4,780 mm
- Width: 1,900 mm
- Height: 1,515 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,820 mm
Powering the e7 is a single 100 kW electric motor, delivering a top speed of 150 km/h.
Battery Options & Driving Range
A regulatory filing in February revealed two battery choices:
- 48 kWh pack – 450 km CLTC range
- 57.6 kWh pack – 520 km CLTC range
While these figures suggest efficiency, BYD hasn’t yet confirmed charging speeds or pricing.
How Does the e7 Fit into BYD’s Lineup?
Unlike most BYD models named after dynasties or marine life, the e series follows a different naming convention. The last update to this series was the e2 Glory Edition in March 2024, but it didn’t gain much traction. The e7, however, could change that by bringing stronger specs and a fresh design.
BYD’s Busy Month of New Launches
The e7 isn’t the only new BYD vehicle making waves. This month, the company has already launched:
- Qin L EV sedan
- Sealion 05 EV SUV
- Denza N9 SUV
- Yangwang U7 luxury sedan
Additionally, BYD just slashed prices on three hybrid models, possibly to clear inventory ahead of Smart Driving updates.
What’s Next?
With multiple new models hitting the market, BYD is rapidly expanding its EV lineup. Will the e7 bring new energy to the e series? Stay tuned for more details as its official launch approaches.
