Flushed door handles, glass roofs, frameless doors, and non-round steering wheels have become common in EVs. They certainly look futuristic and boost aerodynamics. However, some drivers prefer traditional designs for practical reasons. For example, several EV owners note that mechanical door handles function better in cold weather and are easier to operate without looking.
Similarly, frameless doors offer a sleek profile but can bring concerns about durability and sealing, especially in colder climates. Still, many newer models offer improved versions that address these issues effectively.

Another hot topic is touchscreen dominance. Many EVs rely on large central screens to control essential functions—climate, wipers, gear selection. While this creates a cleaner dashboard, drivers often miss the speed and precision of buttons and dials, especially when driving. Many owners still prefer having driving data like speed or battery level directly in front of them rather than off to the side.

Larger wheels may look sporty, but many drivers want smaller options for better comfort and tire rotation. Glass roofs bring in natural light and a sense of openness—when paired with proper sunshades. And features like column gear selectors and traditional stalks remain popular for their simplicity.
