Fisker Ocean EV: Where Can It Be Serviced and Repaired?

Fisker Ocean EV: Where Can It Be Serviced and Repaired?

Fisker Ocean EV owners received some much-needed relief this week as the company announced several service centers for their vehicles. After months of uncertainty, the Fisker Owners Association (FOA) has announced a list of locations where owners can claim repairs, including recall services.

Fisker Service Points Confirmed in North America

The FOA revealed that 20 service centers in the U.S. and three in Canada can now handle Fisker Ocean EV repairs. This news comes after extensive efforts by the FOA to identify shops willing to support previously stranded owners. A list of European service points is still “in progress” and will be ready in the future.

A critical factor in securing these service points was the availability of Fisker’s proprietary diagnostic tool, FAST, which is essential for conducting repairs on the Ocean EV. Access to this tool will allow technicians at approved centers to diagnose and fix issues with vehicles.

Bankruptcy and Recall Repair Updates

Earlier this month, there was concern when Fisker’s website suggested that owners might need to cover the costs of recall repairs. However, after some pointed out that this could violate federal law, the company revised its stance, confirming that they will manage the labor costs for recall repairs.

Fisker filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Delaware back in June, which allows the company to continue operations while repaying creditors. Although this was seen as somewhat positive news for Fisker owners, the chances of a brand revival remain slim. Court documents indicate that creditors are now seeking compensation, and assets free of liens are being liquidated.

The production of the Fisker Ocean EV now seems unlikely to resume. Fisker had relied heavily on Magna Steyr, a contract manufacturer in Austria, to bring the EV to life. However, recall documents revealed that the company hadn’t fully paid Magna’s engineering bills. With liabilities reaching up to $500 million, it appears the company’s production days may be over.

Legal Actions by Fisker Owners

Over 800 car owners have retained the legal firm Hagens Berman, the same team that represented VW TDI owners during the diesel emissions scandal. As legal battles continue, it remains uncertain what the future holds for Fisker Ocean EVs and their owners.
