General Motors (GM) has announced a major partnership with Tesla, giving its customers access to over 17,800 Tesla Superchargers across North America and expanding EVgo network. This collaboration comes as GM continues to push for better EV infrastructure. It aims to ensure drivers have more charging options coast to coast.
With the addition of Tesla Superchargers, GM’s EV customers will now have access to over 231,800 public Level 2 and DC fast chargers. GM plans to grow this number further by partnering with other companies to develop charging stations in key areas like cities and highways. This move is part of GM’s strategy to accelerate the shift towards an all-electric future.
GM-Approved Tesla Charging Adapters
To make use of Tesla’s Supercharger Network, GM will offer NACS DC adapters to its U.S. customers later this year, followed by Canada. These adapters will be available for purchase through GM vehicle apps for $225. Customers can also use the apps to find Superchargers, check station status, and pay for charging sessions.
GM’s Collaboration With EVgo
GM is also expanding its partnership with EVgo, aiming to provide 400 fast-charging stalls in major U.S. cities. These charging stations will include features like 350kW fast chargers, pull-through access, canopies, and security cameras. The stations will be located in convenient areas near shops, restaurants, and other services, making charging more comfortable for drivers.
By joining forces with Tesla and EVgo, GM is taking big steps to improve the EV charging experience. The first new flagship charging location is expected to open in 2025, with plans for more across major states like California, New York, and Texas. These efforts reflect GM’s commitment to making EV ownership easier and more accessible for everyone.
