Lamborghini Rewrites Its Electrification Playbook

Lamborghini Rewrites Its Electrification Playbook

Lamborghini is recalibrating its electrification roadmap.
Instead of launching a fully electric model next, the brand will focus on plug-in hybrids across its lineup.

The move reflects where its customers are today — and where performance is evolving.

Lanzador EV Concept Won’t Enter Production

In 2023, Lamborghini introduced the Lanzador, its first all-electric concept car. The model signaled the company’s long-term electric ambitions. However, Lamborghini has now decided not to move the Lanzador into production.

CEO Stephan Winkelmann confirmed that the brand will prioritize plug-in hybrid development instead. By 2030, every Lamborghini in the range will feature plug-in hybrid technology. At the same time, combustion-engine models will continue alongside electrified offerings.

Hybrid Lineup Delivers Record Results

The strategy already shows momentum.

In 2025, Lamborghini delivered a record 10,747 vehicles worldwide. The company attributed this success to strong enthusiasm for its hybrid models. Europe remains the largest market, followed by the Americas and Asia Pacific.

The Revuelto hybrid supercar, priced from around £450,000, leads the portfolio. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid Urus SUV, starting near £210,000, continues to attract strong demand. The hybrid Temerario, introduced last year at over £260,000, completes the lineup.

As a result, hybrid versions are now available across every Lamborghini model.

Performance Meets Electrification

Winkelmann emphasized that plug-in hybrids align closely with what Lamborghini drivers value most: emotional performance and cutting-edge technology.

Plug-in systems deliver instant electric torque. At the same time, they preserve the high-revving character that defines the brand. This balance allows Lamborghini to blend innovation with tradition while advancing its electrification journey.

A Measured Path Forward

Lamborghini remains part of the Volkswagen Group through Audi, and electrification continues across the wider automotive industry. For now, the brand sees plug-in hybrids as the ideal step forward.

By refining its strategy, Lamborghini aims to match technological progress with customer expectations — ensuring performance, emotion, and innovation evolve together.
