New Lexus ES: Sharper Style, Electric Power

New Lexus ES: Sharper Style, Electric Power

A Major Shift for Lexus’ Elegant Sedan

The all-new 2026 Lexus ES has arrived, and it’s taking a bold step into the future. For the first time, the ES lineup includes a fully electric option alongside a hybrid. Revealed at Auto Shanghai, the eighth-generation ES showcases bigger dimensions, fresh styling, and a choice between eco-friendly powertrains.

While previous ES models were known for understated luxury, this new version breaks tradition with sharper lines, fastback styling, and daring design features.

Larger, Taller, and More Striking

The new ES has grown significantly. It’s 6.5 inches longer and 4.3 inches taller than its predecessor. Now stretching 202.4 inches in length, it commands a stronger road presence.

Both hybrid and electric models share nearly identical looks, although the EV version adds an extra cooling slat up front. Inspired by the LF-ZC concept, the ES blends futuristic shapes with a more upright sedan profile. A glossy black trim across the doors aims to balance its added height.

Around back, Lexus introduces a fastback rear end, resulting in a smaller, more compact decklid — a rare sight in sedans today.

A Minimalist Yet Luxurious Cabin

Inside, the 2026 ES leans into simplicity and elegance. The Lexus badge is replaced by a bold LEXUS script, giving the cabin a more upscale feel. Drivers enjoy a 12.3-inch digital cluster, while a large 14.0-inch touchscreen dominates the center console.

An optional second screen for the front passenger adds a tech-forward touch, making the experience even more premium.

Two Electric Options for Different Needs

The ES 350e features a 221-horsepower motor driving the front wheels, offering a 0-62 mph time of 8.9 seconds. For more performance, the dual-motor ES 500e boosts output to 338 horsepower, slashing the sprint time to 5.9 seconds.

Range is impressive too. The ES EV claims 379 miles under China’s CLTC standard, likely around 300 miles EPA when it launches in the U.S. next year.
