Polestar is pushing the limits of electric performance with rally-inspired Arctic Circle versions of its EV lineup. Originally introduced as a one-off Polestar 2 concept in 2022, the Arctic Circle collection now includes the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 SUVs, designed for extreme winter conditions.
Built for the Ice With Racing Pedigree
These winter-ready EVs were developed with input from Joakim Rydholm, Polestar’s head of driving dynamics and a seasoned rally driver. Each model comes packed with performance upgrades, including:
- Raised ride height for tackling deep snow
- Three-way adjustable Öhlins dampers for precise handling
- OZ Racing wheels wrapped in studded Pirelli tires
- Recaro bucket seats for extra support
- Stedi driving lights for maximum visibility
Designed for Adventure, Not Just Speed
Beyond performance, these Arctic Circle editions are designed to handle real-world winter challenges. Features like roof racks, skid plates, and snow shovels ensure drivers are ready for whatever the elements throw at them. The Polestar 3 even adds snow ladders, making it a serious off-road contender.
While Polestar hasn’t confirmed a production version of these models, some of these rugged accessories could eventually make their way into its official accessory catalog.
Polestar’s Expanding EV Lineup
The Arctic Circle trio arrives as Polestar broadens its range. The Polestar 2 remains in production but is dropping some configurations in 2025. Meanwhile, the Polestar 3, made in the U.S., focuses on efficient performance, distinguishing itself from its Volvo EX90 sibling. The Polestar 4, currently built in China but soon moving to South Korea, boasts a bold, unconventional design that blends SUV and coupe elements.
Making Its Debut on the Ice
Polestar’s Arctic Circle EVs will make their public debut on February 1 at the 2025 F.A.T. Ice Race in Austria. They’ll share the spotlight with the Audi Q6 E-Tron Offroad, another rugged electric concept. Could this signal a growing trend of off-road-ready EVs?
