Tesla’s Nakusp Supercharger Finally Live

Tesla’s Nakusp Supercharger Finally Live

Years of Waiting, Finally Over

After more than five years of waiting, Tesla drivers can finally plug in at Nakusp’s brand-new Supercharger. The small British Columbia town now has a much-needed boost to its charging network, making road trips through the scenic Arrow Lakes region far easier for EV owners.

Key Location for Road Trippers

The new station sits at 1101 Highway 23, at the Esso gas station on Nakusp’s north side. It features eight next-generation Superchargers. Drivers heading between Revelstoke, Nelson, and Castlegar have long faced charging gaps in this breathtaking region. Now, they can explore with far fewer range worries.

Pricing for All EVs

The station welcomes non-Tesla EVs too, thanks to an adapter system. Tesla owners pay $0.32 per kWh to charge, while non-Tesla drivers pay $0.44 per kWh. Opening access helps more drivers enjoy the growing EV network without being left behind.

A Project Full of Delays

The Nakusp Supercharger had a rocky journey. First announced in January 2020, it quickly became one of the longest-running projects in Tesla’s Canadian network. The original plan placed the chargers near Nakusp’s sports complex, but negotiations stalled. Infrastructure hurdles didn’t help either.

In late 2022, a new location was locked in at the Esso gas station. Initial projections aimed for an early 2023 launch. That date slipped by, and the site stayed inactive through 2023 and deep into 2024. But last week, the chargers finally came online—powering up a new link in BC’s EV corridor.

Big Step for BC’s EV Future

Nakusp’s Supercharger unlocks new possibilities for adventure-seekers and daily commuters alike. Drivers can now roam further, stress less, and trust that Canada’s remote regions won’t leave them stranded. The long wait proves how vital rural charging spots are for real EV freedom.
