Volkswagen of America has announced a compelling charging plan for its highly anticipated 2025 ID.Buzz. In collaboration with Electrify America, every purchase of the ID.Buzz will come with a 3-year charging offer that makes EV ownership even more appealing.
What the Charging Plan Includes
Volkswagen’s agreement with Electrify America ensures that all 2025 ID.Buzz customers will receive access to the Pass+ membership. This membership provides several benefits, including:
- Preferential Rates: Enjoy approximately 25% savings compared to standard pay-as-you-go pricing at Electrify America stations, making charging more affordable.
- Complimentary Charging: ID.Buzz owners will receive 500 kWh of free charging, allowing for extended journeys without the worry of charging costs.
- Plug&Charge Functionality: Drivers can activate this feature through Electrify America’s mobile app, enabling them to automatically initiate a charging session and pay without needing to pull out their wallet or smartphone.
Andrew Savvas, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at Volkswagen of North America, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are so excited to bring the all-electric ID. Buzz to American driveways this year… families can explore and experience all that electric mobility has to offer.”
EV Accessibility
This partnership with Electrify America is just one part of Volkswagen’s broader strategy to enhance the EV experience in North America. The company plans to adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) by 2025, further increasing the convenience and accessibility of charging options for its customers. This transition is expected to provide ID.Buzz owners with access to over 15,000 additional charging points, supplementing the nearly 4,000 DC fast charging outlets currently operated by Electrify America.
Pablo Di Si, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, commented, “This potentially provides them with access to more than 15,000 additional charging points… It would mean that customers of our fast-selling electric vehicles like the Volkswagen ID.4 will have access to an extensive and growing charging network.”
