Maxus Reveals Europe’s First AWD Electric Pickup

The electric vehicle (EV) market is buzzing with excitement, and this time, the spotlight is on a new contender that’s turning heads in Europe. Enter the Maxus eTerron 9, the continent’s very first all-wheel drive electric pickup. With its striking design and impressive specs, this electric truck is ready to challenge the likes of Toyota and Ford while proving that innovation knows no borders.

A Game Changer from China

Unveiled at the IAA Hanover Auto Show in Germany, the Maxus eTerron 9 is making waves as it beats its rivals to market. The eTerron 9 is slightly larger than the popular Ford Ranger, providing ample space for both work and play. But it’s not just size that matters; this truck offers a robust range of up to 267 miles (430 km) on a single charge, making it a formidable option for those who need both utility and efficiency.

Maxus Claims Power and Performance

What sets the eTerron 9 apart is its dual electric motor setup—125 kW (170 hp) at the front and 200 kW (272 hp) at the rear, delivering a thrilling combined output of 325 kW (442 hp). With the ability to tow up to 7,700 lbs and carry nearly 1,400 lbs (620 kg) of payload, this truck is for those who require power and flexibility.

Charging Made Easy

The Maxus eTerron 9 has 102 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, ensuring that charging isn’t a hassle. You can go from 20% to 80% in about 40 minutes at fast charging stations, allowing you to hit the road with minimal downtime. And for those winter adventures? Maxus has designed an optimized venting system that enhances range by 18% in cold weather, a game changer for the unpredictable European climate.

With an All-Terrain System featuring six driving modes—Normal, Mud, Sand, and more—the eTerron 9 is ready for anything the road throws at it. Whether you’re navigating city streets or tackling rugged trails, this electric pickup has got you covered. Plus, its bi-directional charging feature allows you to power work sites or camping equipment, making it not just a vehicle but a versatile tool for your adventures.

What’s Next?

Maxus will open orders for the eTerron 9 this October, with deliveries anticipated to start in January 2025. While prices are not available yet, it’s expected to sit above the T90EV, which starts at £49,950 ($66,300) in the UK before VAT. As we look ahead, the Maxus eTerron 9 is not just an electric pickup; it’s a glimpse into the future of sustainable driving.
